Just got back from the Isle of Skye

" Ive just got back from the Isle of Skye, Im no very big and Im awfy shy ",

Donald wheres your troosers..Andy Stewart.

I made my mind up this past year that I can either sit and do nothing just because Im on my own or get out there and explore just because Im on my own and I have time, also nobody to tend to or answer to.

I lived as much a part of my life in England as I have in Scotland, over the years hearing so much about the Western Isle each story ending " You must go there ", The full stop in the conversation until last week when I decided to continue the story on my own, for myself and with myself.

I spent 3 days on this beautiful part of earth and another 3 in Edinburgh just meanering through art galleries, museums, cathedrals and castles in the area. I also visited Rosslyn Chapel featured in the Da Vinci Code which I had read a couple of years ago..The masonary and stonework in this chapel is astounding as is the carving in the St Stephen Chapel in St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh itself. So much to see, so much to do, steeped in the history of my own people. I had a wonderful time and leave you with a few pictures some of my favourites.

This monument is dedicated to the Commandos, set on a ridge overlooking a vast expanse of hillside and valley, of course I naturally thought of Patrick and all his commrades and their lives.

Fortunate enough to see a stag grazing at one of our pit stops and of course no trip would be complete without a picture of Hamish probabaly as famous as Mel Gibson himself, visited and admired by visitors the world over..Isnt he sweet.

To be continued.........

Hi Auds!

Wow, this is amazing!

My Dad went on a Highland & Islands tour (backpacking) as a late teenager/early 20something... even to this day he raves about Iona: ever seen it?

PS How are you? It's been such a long time!!
