LAZING ON A SUNNY AFTERNOON

Aberdeen is smiling today, the sun shines and she is bright, green and sparkling again

In fact the weather was so good we decided to drive out to Balmedie beach which is about 10 minutes along the coast.

Miles and miles of golden sands and lovely dunes for shelter and all wheelchair friendly right up to the sea front itself as you can see from the second to last picture, the wooden walk way winding right down to a picnic table.

After a good walk we found a dune to shelter in close to the sea front, lay down, close your eyes, you could be anywhere. Only blue skies overhead, birds float freely past, Hear the music of the flow and ebb of the waves, the green grass dancing in the breeze. Rest, sleep and on waking help yourself to a rich, red, ripe and sweet strawberry.

Donald Trump has plans for this area. He has applied to the city council to build a world class golf club near these sands. With the addition of course of luxury hotel and luxury homes. He is facing a great deal of opposition, given the natural beauty of this place and the forseen problems with access and increased traffic. To balance it would bring many jobs and be a viable tourist attraction, but something inside me feels there are not many spaces left like these where on can simply escape and enjoy mother nature at its best.

What a beautiful town ... and if only Britain had a tropical climate, don't you agree we would have the best beaches in the whole world?...

I fully agree Gleds,, there are so many beautiful golden sandy beaches around this area, just the weather that tends to let us down. Make the most of them when we can I suppose

And I hope Donald Trump ISN'T! :)

Having that problem again with the pc. Was half-way through commenting here, when I got the box telling me internet explorer has encountered a problem & needs to close. Lost it. Then, that problem again with the security box.
Anyway, I'd said that it was a superb set of photos. I had no idea that you have such beaches on your doorstep. I shouldn't be envious, but if you can't get to them, then they ain't there, are they?
Trump must be trumped! Is there really a need for another golf-course & a 5-star hotel, anywhere?

And how does Ruth come up with all these brilliant gadgets? She's done it again, bless her!
