So far away, and just loving it

hello mama, just come back from the orinoco delta, been living with the waroai native indians in the jungle, and kayaking about, i was with the bassist from the band the darkness called frankee, it was awesome saw a massive jaguar swimming across a river and loads of monkeys and birds. am off to brazil soon but i might nip into guyana on my way south meant to a strange country no one visits. got like 4000 miles to do to get to rio but its goin to be good, i take a 3 day ferry down the amazon then get sand buggy´s from belem to recife

Patrick sent a message today, I almost wish I were with him it all sounds so adventurous and as he himself says awesome to see animals like Jaguars in their natural environment.

Living with native Indians in the jungle..what an experience.I cant wait to hear all about it when he comes home, and Im praying he got a shot of that Jaguar swimming across the river.

However will he remember his momas request..

I collect stones...its true..over the years. My neighbour brought me back some black Italian marble when he was working on the site of the new Scottish Parliment building, my children buy me semi precious stones and crystals for gifts, Im often drawn to particular stones in those new age shops and love the quartz and jasper thats so prevelant on the beach at Stonehaven. Patrick is under instruction to bring me back a beautiful stone from his travels...but WILL HE REMEMBER????

So pleased you've heard from Pat...such experiences he is having and being a true adventurer; no fish and chips and lager louts...lol but "living the life" to its fullest. I'm sure he'll remember your personal "stick of rock"....I have to collect something whenever I go on a day out or a long walk. It has to be natural...a stone, shell, seed pod or even a stray bird's feather. Some of the rocks in our garden are from such trips (needless to say Mick carried them).

Auds, that is one great report from Pat. What an absoluterly wonderful thing he has done with his freedom. It seems like he came home from Basra and - I can only intuit this - he brought a real handle on his values, wehat is important in life. And without hardly a monet, he took of and plunged in headlong. It is a fantastic story. Belem & Recife are really wild, but different to Caracas & Guyana. Try to tell him to go to Salvador de Bahia, before Rio. He MUST NOT MISS IT, it'd be a huge, unforgivable mistake.
And I feel like I'd really love to hear his stories when he gets back. My kind of traveller! As for the rock, maybe he will be the first to discover where El Dorado really is and bring you bag a bagful of gold. But I think you have that already.....

PS, my bloody typing!!! Too much of it today, obviously. However, I love the surreal idea of "hardly a monet". Seems so à propos. So I'm going to leave it uncorrected!

Hey Auds

I don't "know" Patrick as well, perhaps because I'm still new to the blog. But I know if it were my brother or I, we would definitely NOT forget a request from our mother for something like that while we were away!

That sounds AMAZING, what he's off doing. How did he get such an opportunity?
